Quarterly WhatsApp Pricing Updates from Meta

To provide businesses with more predictability, Meta has standardized a quarterly pricing schedule. This means that Meta may choose to update messaging and voice prices on the 1st day of every quarter.

What is changing this quarter?

Effective April 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM IST, the following updates will take effect:

  • Saudi Arabia – Higher marketing message rate.
  • India – Higher authentication-international rate.
  • Pakistan – Higher utility and authentication rates. No change to the authentication-international rate.
  • Turkey – Lower utility and authentication rates.

This is an official change from Meta and will impact all Business Solution Providers, including Wati. We have automatically updated the rates for all our clients to reflect these changes. You can find all the details here:

Meta’s Pricing Changes and Previous Updates

Note: You can view the updated messaging rate cards in your Wati account after the effective date. Log in to your Wati account and click the Pricing Overview button under the wallet icon located in the top-right corner of the screen.

No Action Required

As your WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, Wati handles these technical updates for you. These changes will be applied to your account automatically on the effective date. No action is required on your part.

Important: Updates to WhatsApp Authentication & Co-existence

Meta has rolled out a few important updates affecting authentication templates and the co-existence experience. Here’s what you need to know.

WhatsApp Authentication Template Updates

Starting mid-September 2025, Meta has introduced new requirements for businesses using authentication templates:

  • Business Verification (BV) is mandatory
  • Your account must maintain the 2,000-message tier for at least 30 consecutive days
  • You must send high-quality messages during this period

These changes apply globally and are part of Meta’s fraud prevention efforts.

New Template Rules:

Meta has released new template formatting guidelines. We have documented all of the new template guidelines here. Tl:Dr:

  • Use only formats from Meta’s approved Template Library
  • Templates cannot start with a variable (for example, 1)
  • Non-compliant templates may be rejected or fail delivery

Co-existence Experience Updates

Meta has expanded and refined the co-existence coverage and experience

Global Availability:

  • Now available in the EU, UK, Japan, Australia, Philippines, South Korea, and Russia
  • Wati customers in these regions can now seamlessly use the WhatsApp Business App and Wati Account together

Experience Enhancements:

  • Mobile Onboarding: The process is now available on mobile for faster setup
  • Meta Verified Compatibility: Businesses can retain or obtain Meta Verified status across both the WhatsApp Business App and the WhatsApp Business Platform
  • Flows Compatibility: WA Flows are now fully supported, allowing better automation and engagement
  • Automated Greeting Message: Automatically greets users who interact with Click-to-WhatsApp Ads and land on Co-existence numbers
  • Click-to-Flows: Integrates WhatsApp Flows with CTWA Ads to capture structured responses directly within WhatsApp

Conversation-Based Pricing to Message-Based Pricing (effective July 1, 2025)

Starting July 1, 2025, Meta is moving from conversation-based pricing to message-based pricing. These changes aim to align with industry standards, simplify billing, and help businesses deliver greater value to their customers.

What’s new:

  • Each Marketing, Utility, and Authentication message will be charged individually
  • Utility messages during active service windows are now FREE

How it works:

Under this model, you’ll be charged for each delivered template message:

  • One charge per marketing template
  • One charge per authentication template
  • One charge per utility template, if sent outside the customer service window

For example: If you send one marketing message and one utility message, you’ll be charged once for each type — one charge for marketing and one for utility.

  • Use free messaging windows like CTWA (72h) and website widget (24h)
  • Send fewer, more impactful messages with Carousel Templates
  • Use WhatsApp Flows to capture info, onboard users, or complete actions in one go
  • Retarget only engaged users to reduce spend
